(JUBA/ YEI )The Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmond Yakani, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, where the two leaders discussed a range of developmental and social issues aimed at advancing progress in the state.
One of the key issues raised during the meeting was the possibility of establishing a Cooperative Societies Development Institute in Yei River County. The proposed institute would focus on strengthening cooperative movements, promoting economic empowerment and building local capacity for sustainable development.
According to CEPO, the proposed Cooperative Societies Development Institute would serve as a training and research center to support cooperative groups such as farmers, traders, youth associations, and women’s groups. The goal is to equip communities with the skills needed to manage cooperative enterprises and improve their economic resilience.
Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony welcomed the engagement with CEPO and emphasized the importance of partnerships with civil society organizations in addressing development challenges across Central Equatoria State.
The discussions reflect ongoing efforts by CEPO and the state government to promote community-driven development and strengthen local institutions, particularly in areas such as Yei River County, which plays a key role in the region’s agricultural and economic activities.
