
Yei Commissioner Returns After Signing EU Project in Juba/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press
(YEI RIVER COUNTY, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – The Commissioner of Yei River County, Hon Emmanuel Taban Seme, returned to Yei on Saturday after an official visit to Juba where he signed a new European Union funded development project aimed at supporting recovery and stability in the county.
The project, titled Catalysing Durable Solutions in Yei River County and Beyond, is funded by the European Union Directorate General for International Partnerships and will be implemented by the International Organization for Migration.
County officials said the Commissioner signed the agreement in Juba as part of efforts to strengthen recovery programmes and promote community resilience in Yei River County and surrounding areas.
On arrival at Yei Airstrip, Hon Emmanuel Taban Seme was received by the County Executive Director, Mr Hillary Konga, together with other county officials.
Shortly after his arrival, the Commissioner held a briefing with the Executive Director to outline the purpose and outcomes of his visit to the national capital. During the meeting, he explained the main components of the project, including support for agriculture, recovery initiatives and measures to strengthen community resilience.
He also noted the commitment of development partners to back sustainable programmes within Yei River County, in line with wider recovery efforts across parts of South Sudan affected by displacement and insecurity.
The Commissioner said his administration would ensure proper coordination and smooth implementation of the project in close cooperation with partners and local stakeholders.
He added that the initiative is intended to benefit communities across Yei River County and contribute to stability in Central Equatoria State.
