(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – A steering committee in Yei River County has held its second preparatory meeting ahead of elections for the leadership of the local boda boda riders association planned for early April 2026.
The committee overseeing the process met on 4th March 2026 to review preparations for the vote that will select the next chairman representing boda boda riders across the county.
During the meeting, members examined the proposed election budget and discussed ways to mobilise resources to support the process. The committee said adequate funding and cooperation from partners would help ensure the election is organised in a transparent and orderly manner.
Members of the committee also called on partners, well wishers and stakeholders to assist the initiative. They said the effort aims to strengthen leadership within the boda boda sector, which provides an important source of transport and employment for many young people in Yei River County and other parts of South Sudan.
The steering committee is chaired by the head of the Yei River County Youth Association, Mr Gaga Frank Justin. He said the committee remains committed to organising a credible election for boda boda riders in the county.
According to the organisers, the planned vote is expected to bring together riders from across Yei River County to choose their leadership through a democratic process.
Officials say the election is intended to promote unity among riders, improve accountability in the sector and support better coordination of boda boda activities within the county.
The preparations are being coordinated by the Media Team of the Yei River County Youth Association under the Office of the Chairman.
