(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – Humanitarian relief has been delivered to families displaced from the Yari and Kongi clans in Terekeka County following support from the Caritas group under the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba.
The assistance was distributed on Friday 5 March 2026 to affected communities in the county. Local authorities said the aid helped ease some of the immediate difficulties faced by families who had been displaced.
Representatives of the Catholic Church led the distribution through Caritas. The delegation included Fr Thomas Igga, Episcopal Vicar for the Terekeka Pastoral Region, and Hon Alphonse Modi Lodu, Chairperson of the Peace and Justice Committee at St Mary’s Immaculate Parish in Terekeka.
County officials said the relief support was aimed at helping displaced households meet basic needs after leaving their homes due to tensions affecting members of the Yari and Kongi clans.
Following the distribution, the Commissioner of Terekeka County, Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu, thanked the Caritas group for providing the humanitarian assistance.
He said the support helped bring relief to affected families and showed solidarity with communities facing hardship in the county.
The commissioner also acknowledged cooperation between the church and local authorities in responding to humanitarian needs in Terekeka County.
