
Church and Government Discuss Relief in Terekeka County/PHOTO CREDITS: County Press
(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Terekeka County in Central Equatoria State has met a delegation from Caritas of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba to discuss support for families displaced by recent clashes between the Yari and Kongi clans.
The meeting took place in Terekeka on 5th March 2026 between Commissioner Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu and representatives of the humanitarian organisation. The Chairman of the Peace and Justice Committee from St Mary Immaculate Parish in Terekeka also attended the meeting.
Discussions focused on joint efforts to assist people displaced by the recent conflict in parts of Terekeka County. Officials said the talks examined ways to strengthen cooperation between the county administration and church based humanitarian groups to support affected communities.
The Caritas delegation was led by Fr Thomas Igga, Episcopal Vicar for the Terekeka Pastoral Region. During the meeting, the delegation expressed sympathy to families who lost relatives during the clashes and reaffirmed its commitment to assisting displaced people in the county.
Commissioner Loku welcomed the humanitarian role played by Caritas and thanked the organisation for its continued support to communities in need.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation between government institutions and church organisations in responding to humanitarian challenges and promoting peace in the county.
The Office of the Commissioner said the county administration remains committed to working with faith based and civil society organisations to provide assistance to affected residents and support stability in Terekeka County.
