(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Terekeka County in Central Equatoria State has met leaders of the Terekeka University High Institution Students Association to discuss challenges affecting students and the Mundari community.
The meeting took place in Terekeka on Wednesday 4 March 2026 between Commissioner Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu and a delegation from the association known as TUHISA.
The delegation was led by the chairman of the association, Joseph Bero Keji. During the meeting, student leaders briefed the commissioner on issues affecting members studying at higher learning institutions.
Dr Lodu commended the association for raising the concerns and for its efforts to represent students from the county.
During the discussions, the commissioner stressed the need to improve media communication to help reduce delays in the sharing of information between authorities and the public.
He also raised concerns about several social issues affecting the community. These included alcohol abuse and traditional practices such as facial marking and the removal of lower teeth. The commissioner said these practices require renewed public attention and community discussion.
Dr Lodu said the county administration is ready to work closely with the student association to improve services and support vulnerable groups within the community.
During the meeting, Chairman Keji raised the issue of suspended stipends for ten students who had been sponsored by the county administration. He called on the authorities to restore the payments to support the students in their studies.
The student leader also noted the limited access to international scholarship opportunities for Mundari students and urged efforts to ensure fair access to such programmes.
Members of TUHISA thanked the commissioner for meeting them and for listening to the concerns of students from Terekeka County.
