(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Terekeka County in Central Equatoria State has met representatives of Salam Junub Point Company to discuss plans to construct a dam in Reggo Payam to address water shortages in Central Mundari.
The meeting took place in Terekeka on Monday 2 March 2026 between Commissioner Dr Emmanuel Loku Lodu and a team from the company responsible for carrying out the project.
During the meeting, the company representatives briefed the commissioner on preparations for the work. According to the team, the project follows a commitment made by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to support the construction of a dam in the area.
Officials said the planned dam is intended to improve water access for communities and livestock in Central Mundari, where residents often face shortages during dry periods.
Commissioner Lodu welcomed the company team and thanked them for moving forward with the project. He said the planned work will support local communities and livestock keepers in the area.
The county administration said the project is expected to begin within two weeks once preparations are completed.
Local authorities say the initiative is expected to improve water availability and support livelihoods in Reggo Payam and surrounding areas of Terekeka County.
