(JUBA COUNTY) – Residents of Kayoyu Sub Boma in Mangalla Payam of Juba County have raised concerns about lack of clean drinking water, limited education services and the absence of health facilities during an administrative visit by county authorities.
Community members also highlighted security concerns affecting women and girls, cases of gender based violence and farming difficulties caused by insecurity and destruction of crops by livestock.
The concerns were presented on Wednesday during a visit by Juba County officials to Kayoyu Sub Boma in Bilinyang Boma of Mangalla Payam. The visit aimed to assess the local security situation and review challenges facing residents.
Local authorities said the meeting allowed community members to present their concerns directly to county officials and seek solutions to improve access to basic services.
During the visit, women representatives from the area submitted a petition outlining major challenges facing the community. These included shortages of safe drinking water, lack of a health dispensary and limited access to education.
They also raised concerns about insecurity affecting women and girls and difficulties faced by farmers due to crop destruction by livestock.
County authorities said access to clean water and other basic services remains a priority for local administration as communities continue to expand in parts of Juba County.
The Payam Director of Mangalla, Juma Marcello Sebur, said Kayoyu Sub Boma faces several development challenges including the absence of water points, schools and health facilities.
He encouraged residents to continue living peacefully with neighbouring communities and noted that the area has remained stable with no reported border disputes.
Local leaders said development in some parts of Juba County has been slowed by insecurity in previous years, which affected service delivery and infrastructure projects.
Juba County Commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon said security remains a key focus for the Central Equatoria State government, followed by the delivery of basic services to communities.
He instructed local administrators to report community concerns through the proper administrative channels so that county authorities can respond quickly.
The commissioner also commended cooperation between security forces and local leadership in maintaining stability in the area and encouraged residents to continue promoting peaceful coexistence.
Officials also clarified that the administrative elevation of sub Bomas to Bomas is intended to improve service delivery and bring government services closer to communities.
County officials said the concerns raised by residents will be shared with relevant authorities as efforts continue to expand development services in parts of Juba County.
