JEDCO and Ecobank Launch Mobile Electricity Token Purchase

(JUBA) – Electricity customers in Juba can now buy power tokens through a mobile banking service after a new partnership between Juba Electric Distribution Company and Ecobank South Sudan.

The new digital service allows customers to purchase electricity tokens using the Ecobank mobile application without visiting physical sales points. The system enables users to buy tokens at any time using their mobile phones.

Officials said the integration is intended to make electricity payments easier for customers and reduce queues at electricity vending offices across the capital.

Under the arrangement, Ecobank customers can access the token purchase option through the bank’s mobile application. Users open the app, select the Pay Bill option, choose Utility, then select JEDCO Electricity before entering their meter number and the amount they want to pay.

The service operates throughout the day and night and is designed to provide a secure digital payment method for electricity purchases.

According to the companies, the system allows customers to track their electricity spending through the mobile platform and improves access to power services for households and businesses in Juba.

Officials from both institutions said the partnership forms part of wider efforts to expand digital financial services in South Sudan and improve access to essential utilities through mobile technology.

The organisations said the initiative will support easier payment systems for electricity consumers while contributing to improved service delivery in the capital.

JEDCO and Ecobank also said the partnership reflects a shared effort to promote digital payments and expand financial services linked to essential infrastructure.

The companies added that improving access to electricity services remains important for economic activity in Juba and other urban areas of South Sudan.

The announcement was issued jointly by the public relations and marketing departments of JEDCO and Ecobank South Sudan.
