JEDCO and KCB Launch Mobile Power Token Service
(JUBA) – Electricity customers in Juba can now purchase power tokens through mobile banking following a new partnership between Juba Electric Distribution Company and KCB Bank South Sudan.
The new digital service allows customers to buy electricity tokens using the KCB South Sudan mobile banking application. The system enables users to purchase tokens at any time without visiting JEDCO offices or electricity vendors.
Officials say the move is aimed at improving access to electricity payments and reducing queues at physical sales points in the capital.
Under the system, customers open the KCB mobile banking application and select the Pay Bills or Utilities option. They then choose the JEDCO electricity icon, enter their meter number and the amount to be paid, and confirm the transaction. After payment is confirmed, the electricity token is sent to the customer through SMS.
The service operates throughout the day and night and is designed to provide a secure and convenient way for customers to pay for electricity.
According to the companies, the mobile platform will also allow users to track their electricity spending and manage their household energy use more easily.
Officials from both organisations say the partnership forms part of wider efforts to expand digital financial services in South Sudan and improve access to essential utilities.
They say the initiative will help strengthen payment systems for electricity services while supporting more efficient service delivery in Juba.
JEDCO and KCB Bank South Sudan said the partnership reflects a shared effort to promote digital payments and expand access to financial services connected to key infrastructure in the country.
The announcement was issued jointly by the public relations and marketing departments of JEDCO and KCB Bank South Sudan in Juba.
