AMDISS Reaffirms Commitment to Media Freedom Project at Key JICA Meeting in Tokyo

(TOKYO, JAPAN) -The Association for Media Development in South Sudan, AMDISS, has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing a new JICA-supported project aimed at promoting freedom of expression and access to information in South Sudan.

Speaking during the Joint Coordinating Committee meeting in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, AMDISS Executive Director Ayaa Irene Lokang said the organization remains dedicated to achieving the project’s goals through strong collaboration and shared commitment among all partners.

Lokang described the discussions as productive, noting that stakeholders reviewed the project’s key objectives and the role each institution must play to ensure its success.

She also expressed appreciation to partners, including the Ministry of Information and the Union of Journalists of South Sudan, for their openness and willingness to work together.

The meeting brings together representatives from South Sudan’s media sector, including the Ministry of Information, Media Authority, South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation, AMDISS, UJOSS, independent media houses and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA.

The new project, which focuses on protecting freedom of expression and improving access to information, will be led by the Ministry of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Services, with AMDISS and UJOSS serving as key implementing partners.
