JICA Equips Journalists with Recorders

(JUBA) – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in partnership with the Union of Journalists of South Sudan (UJOSS), has donated 26 audio recorders to UJOSS coordination offices across the country in a move aimed at strengthening media reporting at the grassroots level.

The equipment was handed over to UJOSS coordinators in Juba on Thursday and distributed to representatives from South Sudan’s 10 states and three Administrative Areas. The donation seeks to address the shortage of essential reporting tools and enhance the capacity of journalists working in remote locations.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the union, UJOSS President Oyet Patrick Charles commended JICA for its continued support to journalists across the country. He said the recorders would help bridge logistical challenges faced by reporters, particularly in areas where access to professional equipment remains limited.

The donation comes as journalists continue to work under demanding field conditions while striving to provide communities with timely and reliable information. UJOSS expressed hope that the new equipment will strengthen community reporting and help bring local voices and stories to national attention.
