(TEREKEKA COUNTY) – The Commissioners of Juba and Terekeka Counties have pledged to restore peace and strengthen cooperation following rising rumours of tension between communities over a burial site disagreement.
The joint statement was made on Wednesday, 29 October 2025, by Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, Commissioner of Juba County and Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Loku Lodu, Commissioner of Terekeka County, during a public address in Terekeka.
The misunderstanding reportedly followed speculation surrounding the burial arrangements of the late James Lado Sule (Lado Mukhalif). Local social media users and community groups had circulated conflicting reports that stirred unease between residents of the two neighbouring counties.
Commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon assured residents that law enforcement authorities were closely monitoring the situation. He warned that those spreading false information or inflammatory messages would face legal action.
“People should continue with their normal activities. Rumours that cause fear and tension have no place in our communities,” he said.
Ezbon called on the public to promote peace and maintain the long standing relationship between the two counties, describing Terekeka and Juba as “sisterly communities tied by history and mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, Commissioner Emmanuel Loku Lodu of Terekeka County issued a stern warning to individuals or groups attempting to distort information for personal or political motives. He said those found guilty of inciting divisions between the two communities would face “the full force of the law.”
Loku urged citizens to focus on development efforts that benefit both counties, including cross border cooperation projects aimed at improving livelihoods and maintaining stability.
“Our people deserve progress, not conflict. We must direct our energy towards peace and shared prosperity,” he said.
Both commissioners concluded by reaffirming their joint commitment to restoring law and order, promoting unity and ensuring that peaceful coexistence remains a priority across community borders.
