Juba and Terekeka Women Benefit from Economic Empowerment Drive - Access Radio Yei
(JUBA/TEREKEKA) – The Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI), in partnership with SkinnyDipped and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), has launched the third phase of the Women’s Livelihood Project in Juba and Terekeka. The new phase will benefit 280 women through training and small business support.
The project aims to help women gain entrepreneurship and business management skills while promoting innovation, teamwork and self reliance.
Organisers said the goal is to support women in building sustainable sources of income that can improve their families’ living standards and contribute to local economic growth.
Speaking during the launch, representatives from the Central Equatoria State government and development partners reaffirmed their continued commitment to women’s economic empowerment.
They said empowering women helps to strengthen communities, promote peace, and boost productivity in both rural and urban areas.
The event was attended by the Governor’s Advisor on Gender, Child and Social Welfare, the Minister of Trade and Industry, two Directors of Trade and Gender, the Chairlady of the Central Equatoria State Women Union, as well as representatives from SDC, WPDI and several women led organisations.
The Women’s Livelihood Project has previously supported hundreds of women across South Sudan through business training, mentoring and small grants for income generating activities. The latest cohort in Juba and Terekeka continues this effort, with an expanded focus on sustainability and teamwork among beneficiaries.
