(JUBA) – MTN South Sudan is taking important steps to help young people and visually impaired persons gain digital skills and access high speed internet.
Last week, CEO Mapula Bodibe visited ICT hubs in Juba run by the Youth Empowerment Organization (YEO) and the Society for Transformation and Equal Rights (STER) to see how technology is changing lives.
MTN South Sudan is providing free high speed internet as part of its corporate social investment. The company is also offering mentorship and skills development programmes for youth.
In addition, MTN has formalised a partnership with YEO, STER, and Orbit through a memorandum of understanding to strengthen long-term collaboration.
The CEO explained that these initiatives aim to make digital skills available to more young people, helping them access learning opportunities, improve employment prospects and participate in South Sudan’s digital economy.
The ICT hubs provide training for all, including visually impaired learners and offer resources that allow youth to build knowledge and skills.
Through this programme, the MTN CEO said the company is helping communities overcome the digital divide and empower young South Sudanese to engage in technology and innovation.
She also said the partnership demonstrates a commitment to social development and inclusive access to education and digital tools.
