(JUBA, YEI)-An ad hoc committee tasked with leading the establishment of Yei University has finalized and submitted its comprehensive report and implementation plan to Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Thursday.
During the briefing, the committee presented a concept note, assessment report, and strategic plan outlining a clear roadmap for setting up the institution.
The submission marks a key milestone, shifting the initiative from political approval to the practical phase of implementation.
According to the governor’s office, the documents detail proposed infrastructure, academic programs, governance structures, and phased timelines for rolling out the university.
Committee members called for coordinated support from both state and national authorities to ensure the project proceeds without delay.
Governor Adil welcomed the report and urged the committee to move swiftly into implementation, stressing the importance of timely execution.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the process and ensuring the university becomes operational as planned.
The establishment of Yei University has already received backing from President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who recently approved the initiative following consultations with the state government.
The institution is expected to be established at the site of a former base of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Yei, which the government is repurposing into an academic facility.
