(JUBA / YEI ) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has issued a gubernatorial order for the formation of a provisional committee to begin the establishment of a new public university in Yei on Monday the 16th, March, 2026.
The proposed institution, to be known as Yei University, will be located in Yei Town at the former UNMISS compound.
According to the order, a six-member committee has been appointed to spearhead the initiative. The members include Professor Abate Wasara, Dr. Bernard Khamis Kenyi Manase, Dr. Stephen Lubari, Moulana Noel Ajo, Dr. Charles Mahmud Sebit Manya, and Mrs. Sadia Lona.
The committee has been tasked with initiating the establishment process of the university, developing its charter and academic curriculum, and seeking approval and registration from the relevant higher education authorities.
It will also mobilize resources for the project, coordinate with state and national institutions, and perform any other duties necessary for the successful creation of the university.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the state government within 90 days and may co-opt up to four additional members if required.
