(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — Excitement is building in Yei River County after authorities formed a steering committee to coordinate preparations for the anticipated visit of Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.
The committee, established through Local Order No. 1/2026 dated May 19, was formed by County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo to oversee arrangements for the governor’s reception and ensure the visit runs smoothly.
The preparations are already drawing together communities from across the county, with representatives from all 64 tribes living in Yei River County included in the organizing team alongside civil society groups and local government officials.
Speaking after the committee’s formation, steering committee chairperson Ale Satimon called on members and heads of departments to work together to ensure the county presents a united and welcoming atmosphere during the governor’s visit.
“The success of this reception depends on cooperation from everyone,” Satimon said, urging committee members to coordinate closely in the coming days.
The local order establishing the committee was issued under powers granted to the commissioner through Republican Decree No. 85/2026 and Article 91(4)(b) of the Local Government Act, 2009.
Although authorities have not yet announced the official date of Governor Adil’s arrival, preparations are continuing across the county as anticipation grows among residents eager to receive the state leader.
Local officials say the visit is expected to strengthen cooperation between the state government and county authorities while opening discussions on key issues affecting the people of Yei River County.
