(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) — Authorities in Kajo-Keji County have intensified enforcement of local by-laws banning the sale, distribution, and consumption of harmful imported alcoholic products.
The crackdown targets brands commonly known as Happy Gin, Fighter Gin, Adricos, and Jonneys, among others. The operation is being carried out jointly by organized forces and law enforcement agencies following resolutions by the Kajo-Keji County Executive Council. The move is aimed at protecting public health, promoting law and order, and safeguarding the future of young people in the county.
Speaking during the enforcement exercise in Wudu town on Monday, Kajo-Keji County Commissioner Wani Jackson Mule reaffirmed the government’s commitment to full implementation of the by-laws. He commended the police and other security agencies for their discipline and professionalism while conducting operations across markets, trading centers, and communities.
Hon. Wani highlighted growing concerns over the abuse of strong imported alcohol, particularly among youth. He noted that the trend has contributed to rising cases of crime, violence, school dropouts, domestic disputes, and general social instability.
“The government of Kajo-Keji County remains determined to protect our communities and future generations from the destructive effects of harmful alcohol and indiscipline,” he said. “Any individual found violating the county by-laws will face legal consequences accordingly.”
The Commissioner also urged young people to avoid alcohol abuse and unlawful behavior, encouraging them to focus instead on productive activities such as education, agriculture, sports, and entrepreneurship.
Local authorities have called on business owners, traders, parents, community leaders, and religious institutions to cooperate by reporting illegal alcohol sales and supporting public awareness efforts against substance abuse.
Residents have largely welcomed the directive, describing it as a positive step toward restoring discipline, enhancing security, and promoting healthier lifestyles within the community.
County officials reiterated their commitment to working closely with security agencies and stakeholders to ensure peace, stability, and responsible conduct throughout Kajo-Keji County.
