(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Kajo-Keji County, Hon. Wani Jackson Mule, held a meeting on Monday with officials from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Civil Affairs Division to explore ways of strengthening peace, security and community services in the county.
The discussions took place at the Commissioner’s office in the County headquarters. They focused on peacebuilding, the return and reintegration of displaced people and cooperation between the local administration and UNMISS to address community concerns.
Commissioner Wani welcomed the UNMISS delegation and expressed gratitude for the mission’s continued support to the people of Kajo-Keji. He said the county had faced many challenges, but through partnerships with UNMISS and other actors, it was possible to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The UNMISS Civil Affairs Division team leader assured the Commissioner of the mission’s commitment to working closely with county authorities and local communities. He said UNMISS was present to listen, support dialogue, and encourage locally driven solutions to conflict.
Key issues raised during the talks included the protection of civilians, land disputes along the border, security cooperation and the need to involve young people in peace initiatives.
Both sides agreed to hold regular consultations and to coordinate their work in order to promote peaceful coexistence among communities.
According to the County Press Unit, the meeting ended with a joint commitment by Kajo-Keji County authorities and UNMISS to deepen their collaboration, foster reconciliation, and support the resilience of local communities.
