Lasu Community Leaders Meet Governor Adil Ahead of Peace Conference

(JUBA/YEI RIVER COUNTY)-The Chairperson of the Lasu Payam Peace Conference has on Friday led a delegation of community members in a consultative meeting with Central Equatoria State Governor,  Emmanuel Adil Anthony, to discuss the forthcoming peace conference scheduled to take place in Lasu Payam, Yei River County.

The planned conference aims to enhance security, promote sustainable development, and strengthen social cohesion among local communities.

During the meeting, Governor Adil reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots peace initiatives, stressing the need to address the root causes of conflict in order to achieve lasting peace and stability. He assured the delegation of government support through collaborative efforts to tackle challenges facing local communities.

Key issues raised included the rehabilitation of local schools, health care centers, and road infrastructure. The Governor further urged the local community to engage holdout groups and encourage them to renounce armed opposition and join the peace process under the leadership of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The meeting was attended by several key Members of Parliament representing the area at both the National and State levels.
