(AWERIAL COUNTY) – Road construction in South Sudan is set to move faster after an agreement was reached to open new stone quarries in Lakes State.
The National Ministry of Roads and Bridges and the Aliab Community of Awerial County have struck a deal on locations where the Ministry can extract stone. The quarries will produce stone broken into various sizes for building construction.
The material will be used to speed up work on the Juba to Terekeka to Yirol to Rumbek Highway, a key route linking several states.
The agreement paves the way for the Ministry to begin quarrying operations in the identified sites within Awerial County, with the aim of providing a steady supply of construction stone for the major road project.
