(JUBA COUNTY) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, has received a comprehensive progress report from the State Ministry of Roads and Bridges, outlining ongoing projects, challenges and future plans for infrastructure development across the state.
The report was presented on Thursday by Hon. Clement Maring Samuel, the State Minister of Roads and Bridges, who was accompanied by senior engineers and the ministry’s Director General.
Governor Mujung commended the ministry’s leadership for its efforts in strengthening road infrastructure and pledged his administration’s continued support.
He called on the ministry to speed up the implementation of critical projects to meet the needs of communities across Central Equatoria.
Hon. Maring said the report was designed to keep the state leadership fully informed on the status of current and planned projects. He added that it provided a realistic assessment of achievements, challenges and unfinished work.
The minister noted that among the pending activities were planned visits to Greater Yei communities, including Mongo and Lasu, as well as assessments of the Juba to Kajo-Keji road. These areas, he said, are central to the state’s connectivity and economic activity.
“The report identifies unfinished plans, including community visits and technical assessments. These will help us determine the next phase of implementation,” Hon. Maring said.
He emphasised that the ministry was committed to working closely with the governor’s office to ensure that policy frameworks and strategic plans were effectively translated into results on the ground.
“This report will serve as the foundation for our strategic plan and policy framework as we work to complete pending projects,” he added.
Despite being one of the government’s main priorities in Central Equatoria, the road sector’s poor conditions continue to affect trade, agriculture and humanitarian access. Better infrastructure is vital for linking rural communities to markets, services and economic opportunities.
