(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, held a consultative meeting with the chairpersons of six Independent State Commissions on Monday, 7 July 2025, at the State Secretariat in Juba.
The session focused on discussing challenges facing the operations of the commissions and establishing a common understanding on how to address them.
The commission heads congratulated the Governor on his recent appointment by the President and expressed their willingness to work in partnership with his administration. They also took the opportunity to raise key concerns affecting their respective institutions, such as limited operational support, funding constraints and technical gaps.
Among the participating commissions were the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Commission for Conflict Resolution and the HIV/AIDS Commission.
The chairpersons outlined several proposed solutions, including increased budget allocation, better coordination mechanisms and access to technical training. They called on the Governor to support reforms that would enable their commissions to function more effectively in delivering on their mandates.
Mujung thanked the commission leaders for their honest feedback and open engagement. He assured them that their concerns had been noted and welcomed their willingness to collaborate with his office.
In his response, the Governor urged all commissions to compile and submit detailed institutional reports outlining their current activities, challenges and proposed action plans. He emphasised the importance of identifying priority areas to guide the allocation of limited resources and ensure transparency in implementation.
The Governor stressed that the state government is committed to strengthening governance through inclusive dialogue and accountability. He encouraged the commissions to remain focused on their core responsibilities while contributing to peacebuilding, anti-corruption efforts, public health and institutional development across Central Equatoria.
No immediate financial commitments were announced.
