(JUBA) – Members of the Central Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly representing Kajo-Keji County met on Wednesday with the Governor of Central Equatoria, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, to present pressing issues affecting their constituency.
The meeting led by Hon. Mila Amos Peter, Chairperson of the Kajo-Keji Parliamentary Caucus focused on service delivery, infrastructure and access to justice.
During the meeting in Juba, the lawmakers highlighted severe fuel shortages at Kajo-Keji Civil Hospital, which have disrupted medical services and emergency care.
They also pointed to the continued absence of judicial officers in the county, making access to justice nearly impossible for many residents. Poor road conditions have left Kajo-Keji largely disconnected from the state capital, adding to the challenges.
The MPs did, however, acknowledge recent progress in civil-military relations in the area, describing it as a positive development for local stability.
Governor Mujung, in response, recognised the concerns raised and stressed the role of essential services in driving social development and trust in government institutions. He called for stronger coordination among the three arms of government i.e. the executive, legislature and judiciary to improve public service delivery. He also assured the MPs that his office would work to address several of the challenges presented.
The Kajo-Keji MPs used the opportunity to congratulate the Governor on his recent appointment and voiced their support for his leadership.
Hon. Mila urged the Governor to prioritise the judiciary, noting that a lack of legal presence had left the community vulnerable to unresolved crimes and violations.
“The people of Kajo-Keji have suffered for too long due to the absence of a first class magistrate,” said Hon. Mila. “Numerous atrocities have gone unaddressed. The community is calling for a mobile court to deliver justice and restore faith in the system.”
In addition to legal and healthcare issues, the legislators raised concerns about border encroachment and the need for fair representation of Kajo-Keji citizens in the state government.
Hon. Mila also informed the Governor that a formal proposal had been submitted seeking the creation of three new Bomas in the county to improve local administration and community access to services.
| Issues Raised by Kajo-Keji MPs | Description |

| Fuel Shortage at Hospital | Lack of fuel hindering operations at Kajo-Keji Civil Hospital |
| Absence of Judicial Officers | No functioning magistrates or mobile courts |
| Poor Road Connectivity | Difficult access to Juba due to road conditions |
| Border Encroachment | Ongoing disputes in county borders |
| Representation in State Government | Request for inclusion of Kajo-Keji locals in leadership roles |
| Proposal for Additional Bomas | Plan to create three new Bomas for improved governance |
Mujung reportedly assured the lawmakers that he would engage the County Commissioner and assess the viability of the new Bomas, including the legal, financial and logistical requirements.

The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from both sides to work collaboratively toward improving conditions in Kajo-Keji County, with further follow up engagements planned.
