[PHOTOS] – Cigarette Company Upgrades Yei Hospital Kitchen

(YEI) – The Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, officially presided over the handover ceremony of a newly built kitchen at Yei Civil Hospital on 30 July 2025. The facility was constructed with support from Carnak Cigarette Company as part of its commitment to community development.

Speaking during the event, Commissioner Taban stressed the importance of proper kitchen infrastructure in healthcare facilities.

He noted that hospital kitchens play a major role in both patient recovery and staff morale, making it essential for them to be well designed, hygienic and equipped with appropriate tools for preparing nutritious meals.

Taban further encouraged other companies operating in Yei to follow the example set by Carnak Cigarette Company by supporting development efforts in institutions across the area.

Representing Carnak Cigarette Company, Mr John, the Director, emphasised the connection between food quality and patient satisfaction during hospital stays. He added that a well designed kitchen contributes significantly to a positive experience for those receiving care.

Mr John also announced plans to construct a modern mortuary at Yei Civil Hospital. The proposed mortuary would provide a dedicated and dignified space for handling deceased individuals with respect and privacy.

The County Health Director, Cons Guya, expressed gratitude to Carnak Company for their support, stating that the hospital is seeing gradual improvements through the assistance of development partners.

The completion and handover of the modern kitchen has been commended by the local community who view as a step forward in strengthening support services at Yei Civil Hospital, as well as contributing to wider efforts to improve health infrastructure in Yei River County.
