Kanyara Institute Construction Reaches Midway/Handout Photo
(MOROBO COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Morobo County, Hon. Charles Data Bullen, on Wednesday afternoon visited the construction site of the Kanyara Vocational Training Institute to review the progress of work. He was accompanied by the County Executive Director, the Director of Education and the Paramount Chief.
The visit followed the official launch of the project in October and was intended to confirm whether construction activities are moving according to plan.
Engineers at the site reported that renovation and building works have reached the midway point and are progressing as scheduled. They added that completion is expected by the end of December, in line with the original timeline.
Hon. Charles Data Bullen said the county is seeing a steady rise in the number of young people, with further growth expected next year. He explained that this trend has increased the need for vocational education that provides practical skills.
According to the commissioner, the institute will help young people gain skills that can improve household incomes and support local economic activity in Morobo County and the wider Central Equatoria State.
The commissioner praised the construction team for maintaining steady progress and meeting set targets. He also acknowledged the role of the partner organisation, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in supporting the project and helping to ensure that the facility meets required standards.
Local education officials noted that the institute is expected to offer training in a range of practical areas aimed at improving employment opportunities.
They said the centre will also help reduce the movement of young people to other towns in search of skills training, keeping learning opportunities closer to communities.
The vocational training facility is expected to be formally handed over to Morobo County authorities in early January. The handover will be carried out by the construction company in coordination with UNHCR, after final checks are completed.
According to the County Press Unit, the project forms part of broader efforts in South Sudan to expand access to skills based education, particularly in counties affected by youth unemployment and limited training options.
County leaders also expressed hope that the institute will contribute to long term stability and development by empowering young people with usable skills.
