(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Commissioner of Yei River County Hon. Emmanuel Taban Seme has called on local leaders in Yei Town Payam to work together as a team to strengthen community development and improve service delivery in the area.
Speaking during a meeting with area leaders in Yei Town, Commissioner Taban urged them to embrace teamwork ahead of the upcoming general cleaning campaign and the mapping of unsurveyed areas within the town. He said the initiatives are part of broader efforts to improve hygiene, urban planning, and order in Yei.
Commissioner Taban emphasised that cooperation between local leaders and county authorities is vital for successful implementation of government programmes.
“We need to work hand in hand to make Yei a clean, peaceful, and well planned town. This will only happen if there is unity among leaders and residents,” he said.
The Commissioner also urged the leaders to collaborate closely with security agencies in tackling issues related to youth gangs and criminal activities in the county.
He said maintaining peace and safety in communities is a shared responsibility that requires coordination between the administration, security forces, and the public.
Area leaders attending the meeting welcomed the Commissioner’s call for teamwork and community mobilisation. They said such direct engagement from the County leadership strengthens confidence between local government and the people.
Sabina Yuggu, who represented the leadership of Hai Gabat Residential Area, praised the Commissioner for bringing together local leaders for open discussions on county development plans.
“I really applaud Hon. Emmanuel Taban for his efforts in calling all of us for such an important meeting. It is the first of its kind, and it shows good leadership in Yei County,” she said.
Local administrators expressed readiness to support the planned cleaning and mapping campaigns. They said the initiatives would help address unplanned settlements, improve sanitation, and make it easier to deliver services to residents.
The Office of the Commissioner said the cleaning campaign will involve coordination between community members, youth groups and civil society organisations. The exercise is expected to cover all residential areas of Yei Town Payam.
