Lainya Updates State Governor on County Projects

(JUBA) – The Commissioner of Lainya County has briefed the Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil on progress made in the county, including new development projects and the general security situation.

The meeting took place on Monday in Juba, where the commissioner said the county had remained calm for several months.

Commissioner Robert John Lasu said the county authorities had continued working on a number of infrastructure projects this year. He said these efforts were being carried out with support from development partners. The projects include a women’s centre, an agricultural cooperative store, a police station in Mukaya Payam and the repair of the Loka Wuji road.

He said the calm environment had helped local teams and partners to continue their work without disruption. The projects, he added, were intended to improve access to services for communities and support small scale farming.

Governor Adil thanked the commissioner for maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the county. He urged him to continue working with all security agencies to ensure that peace is kept across all payams in Lainya. He said peace remains essential for any further development.

The governor also restated the state government’s support for farming activities as part of wider efforts to improve food security. He asked the commissioner to lead community level peace efforts and to handle local disputes early before they escalate.

Governor Adil further instructed the commissioner to ensure that Ambororo cattle herders leave the county to prevent disputes over cattle movement and land use. He said this would reduce the risk of clashes between herders and local communities.
