(JUBA) – Members of the Assembly Business Committee of the Central Equatoria State Revitalised Transitional Legislative Assembly have met Governor Emmanuel Adil to discuss plans to reopen the state parliament after an extended break.
The meeting took place on Monday in Juba and centred on the need for close cooperation between the state’s Executive and Legislative branches to restart parliamentary work without further delay.
The lawmakers, led by the Acting Speaker Isaac Aloro, said the long pause in parliamentary activity had slowed progress on several important state matters.
They raised concerns about reported border encroachment, an increase in land disputes, security incidents linked to groups that have not joined the peace process in some parts of the state, and complaints about irregular taxation.
Governor Adil said reopening the assembly should be treated as a priority. He asked the parliament’s leadership to work together and maintain a constructive approach, saying this would help the state address the concerns of citizens more effectively.
He encouraged cooperation between the Executive and the Legislature to ensure that the public’s expectations are met during the current political period.
