Mayor Inspects Gbugbu Bridge as Local Funding Drive Pays Off/Municipal Press
(NIMULE, EASTERN EQUATORIA) – Construction of the Gbugbu bridge linking Malakiya East and Gbugbu area is underway, funded entirely by the Nimule Municipal Council and local community initiatives.
Mayor Caesar Longa Fuli visited the site on 25 June 2026 to inspect progress on the crossing, which is being built through locally raised resources. The project connects two parts of the municipality and is expected to ease movement for residents.
The mayor praised the community for leading the development effort and said the council would keep strengthening cooperation to speed up local projects.
He added that the government is focused on securing peace and stability so that civilians can take part in productive activities.
The Municipality Press Unit reported that the bridge project stands as an example of authorities and residents pooling resources to meet local needs without waiting for outside funding.
