(NIMULE, EASTERN EQUATORIA) – Health officials, chiefs, youth and women representatives, and security personnel have joined a cross border Ebola prevention drive in Nimule, the main gateway between South Sudan and Uganda.
Hope Restoration South Sudan convened the inception workshop on 23 June 2026 to equip participants with health education and to coordinate mass awareness campaigns across Nimule Municipal Council.
The effort targets early detection, risk communication and readiness measures to protect cross border traders and residents alike.
Given Nimule’s position on the South Sudan-Uganda border, it remains a critical point for surveillance, screening and community sensitisation. The organisation has been working with local authorities and community structures to keep Ebola Virus Disease from entering the country.
Mayor Caesar Longa Fuli welcomed the partnership, saying joint action with the government is vital to stopping the spread of the disease into South Sudan.
The workshop follows an agreement announced earlier in the week between Hope Restoration South Sudan and the municipal council to strengthen prevention campaigns in the border area.
