(NIMULE, EASTERN EQUATORIA) – Public awareness of Ebola Virus Disease is set to increase across Nimule Municipal Council after a national charity pledged to run large scale community education campaigns.
Hope Restoration South Sudan made the commitment during a meeting with Mayor Caesar Longa Fuli on 22 June 2026. The two sides agreed on joint plans for surveillance, early detection and public education as health teams strengthen screening at the South Sudan-Uganda border.
The organisation said the campaigns aim to boost prevention and cut the risk of virus transmission. Mayor Fuli described the partnership as a focused effort to improve early detection, rapid response and public knowledge of symptoms, prevention and reporting channels.
A week earlier, Nimule authorities with technical support from the World Health Organization and other health partners set up screening points at the border to tighten monitoring.
South Sudan has not recorded any Ebola case but remains at high risk due to its geographic position.
