Yei River County Commissioner Calls for Grassroots Peace Dialogues

(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, has called on residents across the county’s five payams to actively participate in grassroots peace dialogues aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and development.

In a press statement issued to the media in Yei on Monday, Commissioner Seme emphasized the importance of unity and reconciliation at all community levels.

“I want to urge the rest of the other payam to take the example of Lasu Payam so that we create peaceful co-existence through dialogue and together we can live in one place. I want us to start peace from our families, the smaller communities, at the Payam level and county levels,” he said.

The commissioner highlighted Lasu Payam as a model for promoting dialogue-driven peace initiatives. He encouraged other payams to replicate similar efforts in order to strengthen harmony and cooperation across the county.

Commissioner Seme also appealed to South Sudanese citizens in both urban and rural areas, as well as those in the diaspora, to open a new chapter focused on peace and reconciliation.

His remarks were made during the opening of a peace conference held in Tokori Boma of Lasu Payam on Monday, reinforcing the county leadership’s commitment to community-led peacebuilding as a foundation for sustainable development.
