Official Statement on the Arrival of Third-Country Nationals and South Sudanese Deported from the United States of America to South Sudan
(JUBA) – The Government of South Sudan has confirmed the safe arrival of eight individuals deported from the United States of America, including one South Sudanese national and seven third country nationals, at Juba International Airport on 5th July 2025.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on 8th July, authorities explained that the deportees were received following standard deportation procedures carried out by the US government. Upon arrival, the individuals were handed over to the appropriate South Sudanese institutions for processing and care.
The statement emphasised that these individuals are being treated in accordance with South Sudanese laws and applicable international standards. They are currently under the supervision of relevant national authorities who are conducting screening processes while ensuring their safety and well being.
The development reportedly comes as part of an ongoing framework of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the United States. The two countries are currently engaged in dialogue on a wide range of matters including politics, security, investment, humanitarian assistance, consular affairs and economic development.
The Government of South Sudan expressed appreciation for the longstanding support provided by the United States during South Sudan’s struggle for independence, the 2011 referendum,and post independence development.

It reiterated that South Sudan does not return its nationals under any circumstances unless confirmed with proper legal and humanitarian review, including individuals who have established links with the country.
