
(ALUAKLUAK) – The late Abraham Mabor Mathiang, a former Deputy Director of the Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) in Yei, was laid to rest in his hometown of Aluakluak on Wednesday following an official farewell ceremony at Juba International Airport.
The body was seen off in Juba on Tuesday, 23 July 2025, by the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Hon. Samuel Yanga Mikaya. Senior officials, colleagues and family members were present at the airport to honour the former central banker.
From Juba, the body was flown to Yirol town and then transported by road to Aluakluak, where a large crowd gathered to pay their final respects. The burial ceremony was attended by the national Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Beec George, Lakes State government officials, community elders and thousands of mourners.
Abraham Mabor Mathiang, who was born on 20 June 1982, passed away on 15 July 2025. He was widely respected for his dedication to South Sudan’s financial system and for his role in public service. Throughout his career, he worked to strengthen the country’s financial institutions and improve banking policy during a period of economic transition.
Colleagues and family described him as a principled and disciplined professional whose work ethic and integrity were admired across the sector.
