(CESGPU/JUBA) – Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on Saturday attended a thanksgiving prayer in honour of Comrade Mary Apayi Ayiga, the Second Deputy Chairperson of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
The event took place in Juba and was organised by the Minyori community, where Cde. Apayi originates.
The ceremony was held as an expression of gratitude for her recent appointment to the high ranking position within the SPLM by the party’s Chairman, President Salva Kiir Mayardit. Community members and political leaders gathered to acknowledge both her personal journey and her contributions to the nation.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Governor Mujung praised Cde. Apayi for her active role during South Sudan’s liberation struggle. He recalled her efforts on the battlefield and recognised her dedication as both a fighter and a scholar. He described her as someone who has served the country with great discipline and commitment.
Mujung used the occasion to underline the SPLM’s responsibility to deliver on its promises to the people of South Sudan.
“When the people see the good things the SPLM has done, they will stand with us,” he said.
He encouraged party leaders to remain guided by strong moral and spiritual values in their political journey.
“Put it in your hearts that God should be your guide. Advance the vision, mission and objectives of the SPLM,” he urged.

In her keynote address, Cde. Apayi pledged to work for the benefit of all South Sudanese. She called for unity across the nation and urged collective action to solve the challenges facing the country. She reaffirmed the SPLM’s commitment to tackling security issues in regions experiencing instability.
The prayer event was attended by several high ranking SPLM officials, including Cde. Simon Kun Puoch, the SPLM Third Deputy Chairperson. It also drew representatives from both State and national governments.
