(OPINION / ARCBISHOP ELIAS TABAN PARANGI)
Dear Head of Mission, UNMISS Juba,
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of H.E. Nicholas “Fink” Haysom, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). His dedication to peace, stability, and humanitarian service in South Sudan and beyond has left an indelible mark on countless lives.
Fink’s unwavering commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding in the most challenging circumstances was truly inspiring. He worked tirelessly to promote the values of the United Nations and to support the people of South Sudan in their pursuit of a brighter future. His leadership and vision will be profoundly missed.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues as they navigate this great loss. May his legacy of compassion and service continue to inspire us all.
With deepest sympathy,
