(JUBA) – A delegation of intellectuals from Kajo-Keji County has pledged to support the newly appointed Governor of Central Equatoria State, Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, during a courtesy visit in Juba.
The visit held on 21 July 2025 aimed to congratulate the Governor and reaffirm their readiness to partner with his administration in shaping policy and advancing development.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Wani Kajomba Poni delivered a formal message of congratulations, expressing confidence in the Governor’s ability to lead at a time when the state is navigating significant challenges and opportunities.
“On behalf of the Kajo-Keji Intellectual Community, we extend our sincere congratulations on your appointment as Governor of Central Equatoria State. Your elevation to this high office, under the wise leadership of H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, comes at a time when our State faces both critical challenges and promising opportunities for transformation,” said Poni.
The delegation included professionals from a wide range of sectors, including individuals living with disabilities. The group affirmed their commitment to supporting the Governor’s policy agenda, especially in areas related to inclusive governance, refugee support, peacebuilding, public service delivery and long term development.
Governor Mujung welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for the show of support. He used the occasion to outline his priorities, which focus on restoring peace, promoting unity and strengthening security across Central Equatoria State.
He urged the intellectual community to take an active role in achieving these goals and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to government efforts aimed at stabilising the region.
“You can also support the government in engaging the holdout groups to join the peace process so that we can help end the suffering of our people in refugee and IDP camps,” said the Governor.
South Sudan’s Central Equatoria State, which includes the capital Juba and border counties like Kajo-Keji, has been affected by periodic conflict, displacement and underdevelopment.
According to the State Press Unit, support from local intellectual communities is a key step in bridging the gap between government institutions and citizens, especially in efforts to implement sustainable peace and local development initiatives.
