Charles Data Bullen, Commissioner of Morobo County
(MOROBO) – As South Sudan marked its 14th Independence Day on 9 July 2025, the Commissioner of Morobo County in Central Equatoria State extended a message of hope and unity to the people of the county and the nation.
The Commissioner urged residents to reflect on the journey of liberation while acknowledging the current challenges, especially insecurity and displacement affecting the area.
The Commissioner’s Independence Day message, issued from Morobo County Headquarters, acknowledged the sacrifices made during the 21 years of armed struggle led by Dr John Garang. This struggle culminated in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2005, which laid the groundwork for the country’s independence in 2011.
While recognising that “all corners of the county are bleeding,” the Commissioner expressed optimism that these difficulties could serve as a foundation for renewed unity and resilience. He called upon the people of Morobo to draw strength from their history of resistance and unity, and to continue contributing to the development of South Sudan.
He also praised the leadership of Central Equatoria State Governor General Rabbi Mujung Emmanuel and the national government under President Salva Kiir Mayardit. He expressed hope that the leaders will remain committed to delivering essential services and ensuring peace in all parts of the country.
“May this day be filled with peace, unity, and renewed hope for a brighter future,” the Commissioner stated in his address.
He encouraged the people of Morobo to keep working together to build a stronger and more prosperous South Sudan.
Despite facing significant insecurity and the displacement of communities in recent years, the Commissioner urged citizens not to lose sight of the progress made since independence and to focus on peaceful collaboration and national development.
The statement ended with a wish for joyful and peaceful celebrations across Morobo County and the entire country.
