(JUBA) – The Bank of South Sudan has announced that it will officially launch the South Sudan Interbank Payment and Settlement System (SSIPS) on 10 October 2025 at its headquarters in Juba.
The initiative has been described by the Bank as a major step in modernising the country’s financial sector.
According to a press statement by the central bank:
It is designed to provide a reliable and secure system for banks to process transactions with each other in real time.
Currently, most interbank transfers rely on manual procedures that are slower and less efficient. The new platform is expected to reduce delays, improve transparency, and strengthen trust in the financial system.
The Bank of South Sudan said the SSIPS will serve as the backbone of banking operations across the country.
The official launch event will take place at 10:00 am on the day in Juba, and senior government officials, representatives from commercial banks, and international partners are expected to attend.
