(JUBA) – The Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) is holding discussions with the United Arab Emirates Central Bank to explore ways to improve the country’s financial system.
The three day meeting in Juba is focused on developing a domestic card scheme that would allow South Sudanese banks and customers to carry out electronic payments safely within the country.
Officials said the talks will also address modernising the national payment system, making transactions faster and more secure, and expanding digital financial services across South Sudan.
Mr. Akum David Sabhaker, Director for the National Payment System at BoSS, said the partnership with the UAE will help set up a domestic card switch. He explained that this system will strengthen South Sudan’s financial infrastructure and support sustainable economic growth.
The initiative aims to make digital payments more accessible to South Sudanese citizens, improve financial inclusion and reduce reliance on cash.
