The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers, chaired by Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, on Thursday passed a resolution to reclaim public spaces that have been illegally occupied by land grabbers.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, Acting Minister of Information and Communication, Hon. Jacob Aligo Lo-Lado said the Council had directed the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Public Utilities in coordination with County Commissioners, to take immediate action to investigate and recover encroached public spaces.
“Some roads and public lands meant for schools and other essential services have been taken over for private purposes. The Council has resolved that such spaces must be reclaimed and that no further allocation of public land for private use will be permitted without proper oversight,” Hon. Aligo emphasized.
In a related development, the Council deferred a policy framework of the Commission for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation presented by the Minister of Peace Building. The proposal was referred to the Governance Cluster for further review and input.
Additionally, the cabinet approved a memorandum from the Minister of Public Service, Labor and Human Resource Development regarding the reinstatement of an official in the Ministry.
