Emmanuel Christian University Applauds AIU Honour to Vice Chancellor
(YEI RIVER COUNTY) – The Vice Chancellor of Emmanuel Christian University, Daniel Ohide, has been nominated and recognised among the thirty fundamental personalities of the year for 2025, in recognition of his leadership in promoting quality higher education in South Sudan.
The recognition was announced by Wani Michael, founder of the initiative that identifies individuals whose work has made a significant impact on society. He said Mr Ohide’s contribution to higher education has positively influenced the lives of many South Sudanese students during the year.
In a message shared on social media, Mr Michael described the vice chancellor as a leader who has shown strong commitment and resilience in advancing education for young people. He noted that under Mr Ohide’s leadership, Emmanuel Christian University progressed from a college to a fully recognised university.

He added that the institution managed this transition while facing major challenges, including its relocation from Goli within Yei River County. Despite these difficulties, the university continued to operate and expand its academic services.
According to the initiative’s founder, Emmanuel Christian University has since provided education to many South Sudanese across different generations, contributing to the growth of skilled professionals in the country.
Mr Michael also said Mr Ohide played an important role in establishing academic partnerships with recognised institutions of higher learning in Kenya and Tanzania. These partnerships have helped improve academic standards and broaden opportunities for students and staff.
Emmanuel Christian University is a Christian based institution located in Goli Boma, Tore Payam, in Yei River County. It is regarded as one of the leading universities in the area, serving students from within Central Equatoria and other parts of South Sudan.
As of publication, Mr Ohide had not yet issued an official response to the recognition. University staff and students, however, have welcomed the news, describing it as a positive reflection of the institution’s progress and its contribution to national development.
