
Central Equatoria Governor Urges Peace in New Year Message
(JUBA) – The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has extended New Year greetings to the people of the state and South Sudan, calling for unity, peace and active civic participation as the country enters 2026.
In his message issued from Juba, the governor conveyed best wishes to families across Central Equatoria and the nation at large. He expressed appreciation to President Salva Kiir Mayardit for what he described as steady leadership throughout the past year, particularly in efforts aimed at peace, security and development in South Sudan.
Governor Adil acknowledged that 2025 presented a number of challenges for citizens, noting that communities had faced difficult moments. He said despite these hardships, the country remained guided by faith and resilience. He also thanked government institutions and leaders for their continued support and cooperation in managing public affairs during the year.
The governor extended his gratitude to the people of Central Equatoria for supporting the government and for maintaining peace within their communities. He said social stability remained essential for progress and urged residents to continue acting as promoters of unity within the state and across the country.
Looking ahead to 2026, Governor Adil highlighted the importance of peace as South Sudan approaches an election period. He called on citizens to participate actively and responsibly in the electoral process, describing voting and civic engagement as a key duty of citizenship.
He also encouraged reconciliation among communities and individuals, urging people to forgive past grievances and work together for a shared future. According to the governor, forgiveness and cooperation would help strengthen harmony and contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous Central Equatoria State.
The message concluded with a call for hope and optimism in the new year. Governor Adil wished families, communities and the nation a joyful and successful 2026, expressing confidence that unity and peace would support South Sudan’s path forward.
