(YEI, CENTRAL EQUATORIA STATE) – Emmanuel Christian University (ECU) has celebrated the achievements of its Vice Chancellor, Mr. Daniel Ohide, who was honoured by Africa International University (AIU), where he graduated in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Education. Mr. Ohide is now in the final stages of completing his PhD, reflecting a commitment to academic excellence and leadership.
ECU officials said the recognition points to the University’s dedication to faith based leadership and the development of students who serve society with purpose.
In a recent courtesy meeting with Central Equatoria State Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Vice Chancellor Ohide reaffirmed ECU’s commitment to community development and education. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the University’s growing role in rebuilding communities and supporting a resilient future for South Sudan.
During the meeting, Mr. Ohide highlighted the significant growth of ECU, noting increasing student enrolment from across the country. He emphasised that a safe and accessible learning environment, supported by improvements in security and road infrastructure, is essential to sustaining progress and ensuring students can thrive.
Beyond academics, ECU has launched initiatives aimed at community empowerment. One example is the establishment of coffee plantations, intended to support local agriculture, create jobs and contribute to economic self reliance.
The university said the projects reflect the University’s vision of connecting education to practical solutions that meet the needs of local communities.
Governor Adil welcomed ECU’s initiatives and commended the University for its holistic approach to education and development. He noted that security and stability remain a top priority for his administration and expressed support for collaboration with higher education institutions to create an enabling environment for students and educators.
Both ECU and the State Government reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the education sector, supporting human resource development, and empowering communities through knowledge, skills, and sustainable development programmes.
