(KAJO-KEJI COUNTY) – About 50,000 children under the age of five are set to receive oral polio vaccines across all payams of Kajo-Keji County in Central Equatoria State.
The vaccination campaign, organized by county health authorities with support from the World Health Organization, aims to protect children from polio.
Acting County Health Director Moses Waran says the campaign targets approximately 50,000 children and called for support from the county administration to enable vaccination teams to reach communities across the county.
Waran also urged parents and caregivers to welcome vaccination teams and ensure eligible children receive the vaccine.
Medical Director Dr Sekwat Savior Clever praised WHO for its continued support to health authorities in preventing polio and protecting children.
Meanwhile, County Caretaker Commissioner Charles Laku Losio, who launched the campaign on Thursday, called on health workers and vaccination teams to ensure that no eligible child is left behind.
Losio also appealed to parents, caregivers, community leaders and local authorities to cooperate with vaccination teams, saying protecting children against preventable diseases is a shared responsibility.
