(JUBA/KAJO KEJI COUNTY) – The leadership of the Kajo Keji Community Organisation met Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Wednesday to congratulate him on his reappointment and to express their continued support for the State leadership. The delegation was led by Hon Aggrey Tisa Sabuni.
During the meeting, the group asked the State Government to begin work without delay on the Juba Kajo Keji road. They said the road has become almost impossible to use and is cutting off Kajo Keji from Juba. According to the community, this has affected movement, trade and access to basic services.
The delegation also raised a number of concerns they described as urgent. These included tensions along the border with Yumbe District in Uganda, the movement of Ambororo cattle herders in the area, and the need to firmly enforce the existing order that bans logging in the county.
Governor Adil encouraged the community to remain calm and said efforts were already underway to ease pressure along the border. He said local leaders, cross border groups and security teams were working together to prevent further clashes and to support community level dialogue in affected areas.
He also expressed full support for starting work on the Juba Kajo Keji road. The Governor said he was preparing to tour the State and would work closely with the relevant offices and institutions to deal with each of the issues raised by the community.
The main concerns presented by the Kajo Keji Community Organisation:
| Issue Raised by Community | Community Concern |
|---|---|
| Juba Kajo Keji road | Road seen as unusable and cutting off access to Juba |
| Border with Yumbe District | Ongoing tensions causing uncertainty and fear |
| Ambororo cattle herders | Movement of herders raising disputes and security concerns |
| Logging ban | Call for stronger enforcement of the existing ban |
