(YEI RIVER COUNTY) — The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, on Wednesday afternoon officially handed over the former County Education Department building along the Nyakama-Kinji street to the County Legislative Council, marking a significant step toward institutional independence.
Speaking during the handover, Commissioner Malimbo said the relocation aims to provide councilors with a more conducive and independent working environment. He emphasized that the new premises would enhance the effective functioning of the legislative arm of the county.
“The strategic location of this building will strengthen the smooth conduct of legislative affairs and reinforce the separation between the executive and legislative branches of the county government,” Malimbo said. For several years, the County Legislative Council has operated from offices within the county headquarters, sharing space with the executive arm. Receiving the facility, the Speaker of the County Legislative Council, Claudia Milla, welcomed the move and commended the county leadership for allocating a dedicated workspace for the council. He noted that the relocation would improve coordination among councilors and provide a more suitable setting for conducting legislative duties.
“This development will enhance our ability to perform our oversight and law-making roles effectively,” Milla said. The relocation forms part of broader efforts by the county administration to strengthen governance structures and improve institutional efficiency within Yei River County.
