
Former Mining Minister Henry Odwar Dies in U.S. Hospital/Sixty 4 Tribes Press
(Juba) – South Sudan is mourning the death of Henry Odwar, the country’s former Minister of Mining, who passed away in the United States following a battle with cancer. His death was first reported on Wednesday 25th, 2025 by Sixty 4 Tribes Press and close family sources.
Odwar reportedly died at a private hospital in the United States where he had been receiving medical treatment.
Although specific details regarding the time and location of his death were not immediately released, sources close to his family confirmed the cause as cancer related complications.
Henry Odwar was a respected figure in South Sudanese politics. He served as the Minister of Mining and was also a senior opposition figure during the country’s transitional peace process.
His contributions to the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) and his role in policy discussions on natural resources gave him national recognition.
